College magazine evaluation

What took place in the creation of my magazine?

The very first thing that I took into consideration about my college magazine was the theme, my theme was to celebrate the achievement within Leyton Sixth College. To carry out my aim I took a number of pictures, and focused many of the featured stories on the appraisal of students, events that were due to come and a few thoughts from the principal. Respectively all of which were in relation to my theme, I especially relied on the use of my camera because my hope was that the pictures would give an insight to each story.

What went well?

I believe that throughout the process of the creation of my college magazine things went well especially the fact that my aim had been met but also I had been able to adhere to one of the most simplistic categories which was the house style as I I had stuck to the logo colours of LSCthroughout the entire creation of my magazine. After publishing my magazine on blogger I had asked for some feedback and surely enough I had received that. Simone Graham commented on my magazine 'The magazine is good and it has a good colour scheme to it, the picture choice is good because it shows that you are studying but also that you can have fun  around the college as well'.

Where there is a positive comment a negative one is sure to follow as she goes on to state (simone) 'The negative  stuff is that the cover image on the front page is blurry and on the contents page the writing is hard to read but overall it is a good magazine concept'. This kind of critic is exactly what I am looking for because this is the first magazine that I had ever created and so feedback is crucial for me to improve on in the creation of my music magazine.

Another feature that I believe went well was the type of photo shots that I had taken, my main focus tended to be of medium shots and some wider shots. My reason for the choice of such shorts was because it would allow the reader to get a great view of all the necessary features from the pictures.

The simplistic things about my magazine such as the choice to name it LSC magazine and then place it in the top corner or position several different cover lines on the outskirts of my magazine, the idea to have a skyline and position it just above the masthead and have it featuring on the key things within the article or one the most basic places to position the bar code at the bottom left the magazine all of which simple choices have been a result of my belief that they play a key part in attracting my reader.

At times Adobe Indesign can prove to be very useful especially when aiming for a professional look.

Three key areas of development from me would be:

 1. although I feel on good terms of in design I think it is fundamental change every required feature at the right time to ensure a professional look.

2. Either ensure that I have a better photographer or I improve my camera quality.

3. Make sure that all areas of font style are apprehensible especially the font.
